As part of ABB’s Motion Services division, our Service Unit in Turgi, Switzerland is creating customer value by modernizing and customizing the installed base of Medium Voltage Drives and Systems globally.

In this role, you will analyze, define, and create customer-tailored solutions, modernizing drives to state-of-the-art control and hardware. You will be design authority and responsible for the overall mechanical solutions in customer projects by creating concepts, designs along aligned specifications and documentation for ordering, manufacturing, and installation at the project end.
Reporting to the Modernization Engineering Team leader, embedded in a global business context, and surrounded by top experts in industry from all disciplines, you can expect to receive the support and training needed, to master your duties.

Our global customer base operates drive systems for mission-critical processes such as cruise-line and other large ship propulsion, wind-energy generation, Oil & Gas transport and production, Metal processing, and many more.
With our modernization solutions, we enhance the equipment's overall safety, reliability, and performance while preserving all non-aging components. Your work will hence also help to reduce the use of resources, enabling a more sustainable future for our society.Your responsibilitiesDelivering high-quality work in your area of responsibility within project teams and in close collaboration with other El./Mech. engineers, manufacturing, testing as well as project managersCreating all necessary mechanical designs and documentation to order (BoM), produce, install and commission customized Medium Voltage Drive Control Upgrades according contractual obligationsProviding own work plan- and budget estimations, as well as supporting risk/opportunity assessments with your expertiseInteracting with functions in R&D, Sales, Supply Chain, Product Management, etc. to ensure knowhow flow, benchmarking, and early capturing of trendsDriving continuous improvement by innovating and giving feedback on products, processes, etc.Maintaining and enhancing customer satisfaction by demonstrating an excellent service mindset and active engagementTraveling globally acc. agreement and your preferences possible (between 0-15%)Your background >5 years of qualified experience working as a mechanical engineerBachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineeringKnowledge in engineering processes and tools (Solid Edge or similar). SAP knowledge advantageousCollaborative, structured, and solution-focused.
