**The Position**
The **Medicinal Chemistry** department in Basel is focused on discovering innovative new medicines to treat major diseases in the areas of neuroscience, ophthalmology, rare diseases, infectious diseases and oncology. The Medicinal Chemistry department is located in world-class facilities with state-of-the-art medicinal chemistry infrastructure. Each year we host ~20 medicinal chemistry internship students from Universities throughout Europe, ensuring a very dynamic and collegial experience.
The Medicinal Chemistry department is composed of synthetic organic medicinal chemists dedicated to the discovery of new medicines of unmet medical need. We are part of Therapeutic Modalities, Small Molecule Research (pRED) and collaborate interactively with colleagues from all scientific and medical disciplines involved in drug discovery.
**The Opportunity**
Working in a state-of-the-art medicinal chemistry laboratory, you will be responsible for the synthesis of novel chemical entities employing the full range of modern synthetic organic chemistry and purification methods. Together with our colleagues across many scientific disciplines in pRED the molecules designed and synthesized will be tested for a range of biological and drug-like properties in order to generate structure activity property relationships iteratively.
You will present your research results to your peers and the department via presentation and poster sessions, and will attend an education program which aims at strengthening your synthetic organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry skills.
**Who You Are**
+ A high-performing **chemistry student** expecting to obtain a 1st class degree who may perform PhD research after their successful undergraduate studies.
+ We seek a talent with the ambition to make an impact in healthcare and who thoroughly embraces the challenge of working in a team with a common goal.
+ Successful applicants should relish the stimulation of working in an international environment.
+ Day-to-day scientific communication is in English, with an active interest in German or French a bonus.
**Eligibility**
+ You are **currently enrolled** in a Bachelor or Master degree program at a university or graduated within the last 12 months prior to the start date
+ For **non-EU/EFTA citizens** : enrollment at the university for the entire internship is required and a letter from the university stating that the internship is mandatory for your studies. The letter should also specify the required length of the internship. Please upload this **mandatory letter** and your **enrollment certificate** along with your CV and motivation letter.
**Duration**
12 months - starting on September 1st 2026
6 months - starting on September 1st 2026 or March 1st 2027

We are seeking an **International Business Leader Oncology** to join our Lifecycle Leadership Team. In this role, you will be responsible for the commercialization strategy of our oncology indication and its successful implementation. You will also support the Lifecycle Team and the Customer Area Core Lab in delivering on overarching priorities, contributing to a holistic customer solution approach.
Your impact:
+ Develop the long-term strategic vision and product roadmaps for the oncology segment in collaboration with the Lifecycle Leader (LCL) and Project Leader (PL).
+ Act as the primary point of contact for affiliates regarding the overall LCT/IBT product portfolio.
+ Identify new market opportunities and effectively manage market risks.
+ Lead and coordinate the Core Lab China Commercial approach among the Core Lab IBTs, ensuring alignment with global objectives and local market requirements.
+ Ensure the availability of products for sale, meeting quality, quantity, cost, and timeline requirements.
+ Define common objectives and KPIs for the network, building upon priorities from Customer Areas and LCTs.
+ Mobilize the organization, including regions, sites, and local management, to support the growth and profitability of the product portfolio.
**Who You Are**
We are looking for a professional with University degree in a scientific and/or business-related field (e.g., life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, economics, business administration or similar), with experience working in an affiliate and/or global leadership roles. The previous experience in oncology is a strong asset. You will bring:
+ Senior-level experience leading, motivating, coaching, and developing people and teams to drive customer focus in our mindset, work priorities, and collaborative behaviors
+ Extensive progressive global business and commercial leadership experience, preferably in diagnostics/medical devices.
+ High level of subject matter expertise in diagnostics, including a deep understanding of the diagnostic lifecycle, development processes, and global trends.
+ Proven experience in building and providing effective leadership for teams, aligning with Roche Values and leadership capabilities.
+ Experience working with international markets, especially in Asia, with specific experience in China being highly desirable.
